River Oaks Contracts with a New Waste Collector & Recycler – TEAM WASTE
Dear River Oaks Property Owner:
Pursuant to the Tenth Amendment of the Restrictive Covenants, the Board of Directors has selected Team Waste as the sole source provider for waste collection and recycling in the subdivision effective January 1, 2018. The selection criteria were based on price, service, capabilities, reputation, insurance coverage, corporate policy and procedures. Team Waste will furnish a 96 gallon cart and an 18 gallon recycle bin to every homeowner as part of their service. The monthly cost will be $18 inclusive of recycling and billed quarterly to residents in advance. The cart and bin will be delivered to residents on December 29th. Pickup days will be Mondays and Thursdays. Wednesday will be the recycle day. The first recycle day will be January 10th because of the New Year’s holiday. The contract period will be for 5 years beginning January 1, 2018. Their initial bill will be mailed to homeowners on January 15, 2018. Included with this letter is a flyer from Team Waste that provides additional details. The Team Waste contact number is (985) 264-8750 for service issues.
Do not pay the Waste Management bill you receive in December for 2018 service. Waste Management will pick up their carts after their last day of service on December 28, 2017. Waste Management plans on picking up their carts on Thursday, 28 December, after their truck makes the scheduled pickup of garbage and trash that day. They are hopeful that they will be able to collect the carts in one day, but if not they will finish on Friday.
Team Waste observes 3 holidays: New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. If a pickup day falls on a holiday, collection will be the next day. Team Waste will also take “white goods” (appliances), and you will need to contact them to schedule a white goods pickup. Freon from refrigerators or air conditioners must be drained and properly tagged indicating removal of the refrigerant. They will take other large items under 50 lbs. (rugs, tree limbs etc), but these must be bundled (4 foot width or less) to fit into the truck. Recyclable material includes plastic containers, newspaper, aluminum, mail, writing paper, tin cans and cardboard (no glass). Attached is a list of items that are not allowed in the recycle bins.
Team Waste will also provide a “spring cleaning” dumpster for residents to dispose of large items once per year. The dumpster will be available for 4 days over a weekend in the clubhouse parking lot. They will also sponsor a grilling event annually at the clubhouse.
